It’s Almost Veteran’s Day!

Mrs. Cox says, "Hey kids! You may have noticed that we have a three day school week next week. I don't know about you, but I am so excited to get to sleep in! One of those days that we are off, November 10th, is Veteran's Day. Veteran's Day is a special day set aside each year to honor the men and women who have served in all branches of our military.

Here is a fun link that you can visit to learn more about Veteran's Day and play some fun games! http://www4.va.gov/kids/k-5/index.asp

Do you have a member of your family who has served in the military? If you do, please tell me a little about hat person and why he or she is special to you. Would you like to serve in the military? Please tell me which branch you would like to join and why!

I can't wait to hear all about the special Veterans in your life, and whether or not you would like to serve in the military some day!

BFFs

Mrs. Cox says, "I have been thinking today about how wonderful my friends are! I have some really special people who I am so fortunate to have in my life. Did you know that I have a couple of friends who I have been friends with since I was in elementary school? We have grown up together, been in each other's weddings, and now share funny stories about our own children when we get together! It is so important to remember that in order to have good friends; you have to be a good friend. The most special friends are the ones who you may have a disagreement with or not talk to for a little while, but when you finally reconnect everything seems just like it was before. My dad has always told me that if I have 5 good friends by the end of my life then I will have been lucky. I never really understood that until I got a little older. He just means that being a good friend isn't always easy. You have to really think about someone else's feelings and how your decisions may affect them. I would love to hear about some of your special friends. Do you think that you may still be friends with them when you grow up? Please share with me what makes them so special to you. I can't wait to hear all about them!"

Love,
Mrs. Cox
